India has steadily grown in influence over the last two decades but the projection of India's power has remained largely soft. There are serious questions about the preparedness of the domestic arms industry, which is the bedrock of every military power.

  • @anatabyak. Congress party is useless when it comes to spend money on nations infrastructure and military. BJP can only leed india stronger by 2020.

  • Every time military buys high value systems from an indigenous source, the money goes to an Indian company and it's employees, who spend it on food, housing, clothes, cars etc. It has a multiplier effect. So if 2% of GDP is spent on defence and most of it goes to indigenous companies, we are talking about at least 1-2 % of additional GDP growth a year. It will also give Indian private companies general technological expertise.

  • @nishkov

For the five year plan(till 2012) Govt assigned approx $ 411 billion for infrastructure.

The Govt has also pledged $1 trillion to be spent on infrastructure for the coming decade.

Don't know how far i can trust the Govt, but yeah India will be totally changed by 2020.

  • @nitin1088. India only spends 6% of GDP on infrastrcture. India should spend 9% on infrastructure.
