What size is this room?
The smallest room in my place... 20 x 20 ft approx.

How did you get the idea for a "dressing room"?!
I took a lot of inspiration from blogs and other internet sources (see below). I was also inspired by my last place which had a walk-in closet with a lot of space. The closets in this condo are large but I needed a place to store all of my clothes, shoes and beauty products and this seemed to solve all of my needs.

What are the essentials for a dressing room?
You need a space to hang your clothes, a space to "prepare" your outfits, accessories and shoes aka laying them out (i.e. dresser, ottoman or body form), you'll need a place to sit, a few mirrors, lots of floor space, and LOTS of shelving. Remember, a dressing room is essentially a storage room for your personal items. The more shelving and storage the better. You can always decorate it to look nice and girly but it's up to you! :)

What if you decide to put an end to this room?
I remove the shelves from the walls and it's over. It's that simple.

What about the guest room?
This video suggests that you use a SPARE room for a transformation like this. So if you need your extra room to serve as a "guest room" then obviously you do NOT have a spare room for something like this. This is ideal for a house with 3 or more rooms considering you have one for yourself, one for a guest and one for a "dressing room" :)

What does your boyfriend think of this room?
He likes it. But he and his friends often laugh at it.

So where does your boyfriend put his clothes?
In the closet that is in the bedroom. He doesn't have as much "stuff" as I do. Not even close.

Where is your bedroom relative to your "dressing room"?
My bedroom is right down the hall.

How do you use this room?
This room is a fully functioning dressing room. I get completely dressed in this room. As soon as I get out of the shower, I go directly in here and I come out fully dressed. I also bring friends in while I'm doing my hair or makeup for a night out. It's sort of the equivalent to having your friends in the bathroom with you chatting it up while you finish up getting dressed :) They're always looking around and finding things to borrow lol

What are the benefits of having a room like this?
I'm less likely to lose any of my belongings because they are all in one place, it keeps my bedroom from becoming cluttered and I'm able to get dressed in the morning without having to disturb my boyfriend (he's a cop and often works non-traditional shifts).

How much effort does it take to turn a spare bedroom into a dressing room?
Not much at all but it depends on your taste. I pretty much used a bunch of things that I already had to make my space more functional.

@Shantell81CRNA No worries. I was inspired by Teresa (juicytuesday) though. I do not typically watch dulcecandy's videos. I got the "boutique-style" set-up from browsing many different high-end boutiques in Chicago which reminded me of closets. When I saw that Teresa had done it, I decided to give it a try myself - even though I think her's was more of a storage/makeup room. I wanted mine to have seating w/ less clutter. I used to have a pretty large walk-in closet if you check my older videos.

@unicqueky Some women have really beautiful storage spaces in their studio apartments/dorms. They take a corner or an empty wall, add a clothing rack, a couple stacked hat boxes, a vase or plant and viola. Suddenly the space becomes stylish and visually stimulating while functioning as an "open closet space." Don't get caught up on the "room" part. A closet is a storage space whether big or small :) Luv ya

i just want to comment on the note about your nail polishes in the video...........i'm considering not getting acrylics anymore also due to too many bad and painful experiences at diff nail salons and the nail techs wanting to do my nails the way they want instead of what i ask...........so how do you care for your nails now, what did you use to strengthen them back then (this is an old vid) and whats your fav top coat, polish brand etc.

Beautiful. This is perfect because you have your own little space, and it's fair to the boyfriend because he doesn't have to be consumed with girly stuff in his bedroom. I think it's a great idea and you have great style! It's not cluttered. Nice, clean, organized and bright.

Not sure if you found a good way to store your scarves, but I use tier pants hangers. Simple folds and I can see them all quickly... easy peasy!

I do like the idea...i was going to do that when I was going to move into a 3 bedroom house...the bedrooms were extremely small..closets were smaller...but I ended up not getting it :~(....funny thing...my husband, my lil girl, n I moved into a 2 bedroom duplex...and the closet space is hella small..lol...i have a lot of stuff and my husband dont...im like..taking up all the space..i would still love to do that...but until then....ill still use some of ur ideas....sorry if the post is so long..
