R.E.M. Encore from Mexico City

As a little remembrance of a great 2008, we thought it would be fun to
post up the final encore of the tour Tuesday night in Mexico City. The guys
were in fine form as they picked some songs they rarely play but wanted
to that particular night. It capped off a rollicking show in the storied
Auditorio Nacional, and was a fitting end to a year that we will all remember
as one of the best R.E.M. tours ever.

I was listening to this for the 1,000th time and yeah realized today it was their last show ever. Michael even hinted that it was their last show for, uh, a long time.

I think the fact they threw in I Believe was a great thing, then followed by a terrific Country Feedback made it even better.

Ending their last concert ever with It's The End Of The World As We Know It (And I Feel Fine) would have been too predictable, so they chose to end it with a pretty significant verse. "Nothing is cool". Yes. Nothing is cool without REM. So sad they've split and quit the bussiness, they will be missed =(
