Hanging Hair test

The hanging hair test.

This test is used as a benchmark when honing straight razors to let one know how sharp a razor may be. The hair is brought straight down on the blade and the blade should cleanly cut the hair. I used my hair for this test, it's quite fine.

The razor is a 5/8 C.V. Heljestrand. double hollow ground in custom carbon fibre scales.
Honing scheme: chinese 1k, norton 4k, norton 8k, 1µ diamond paste, 0.5µ chromium oxide.

omg i just looked in hd and saw it was made from cv heljestrand in eskilstuna, i got the same blade on myne, im bought it here in sweden and i thought it wasnt something other ppl used lol

Can you get a straight razor with a stainless steel blade?

@MySilentAss AFAIK most razors currently being manufactured tend to use stainless as opposed to carbon steel. It's just the older and vintage straights that are usually carbon steel.
