" if you have to say it's subversive, then it isn't subversive..." well said, elv - although i was always very clear about who this song was about. it's STILL wonderful, still makes me sad (and angry!) and he is still one of the smartest songwriters around...
i think it was russell howard on 'mock the week' who said they'de have to open a dancefloor on her grave to cater for the amount of people who'd want to act out the sentiments of this song!
