He is reportedly one of the few male singers in the world that has a five-octave range, earning him the title "the male Mariah Carey". His highest recorded note was an astonishing live D#7 (2492 Hz), which he sang when invited to a Romanian TV show.

He has released eighteen singles and eight albums in his native country, as well as two singles and two international albums ("Tornero" and "Christmas"). He is thought to have sold more than 1.5 million records.[citation needed]

In 2005 the single "Cât de frumoasă eşti" ("How Beautiful You Are") was number one in Romania for five weeks which prompted his titles for "Best Male" and "Hit Of The Year" awards in March 2006. In 2006, his single "Tornerò" reached first place in many single charts in Europe: Greece, Cyprus, Sweden, Malta etc.

In 2007 Mihai was named " The artist of the year in Romania "
