Brief interview with pianist Lilya Zilberstein. She plays the Prokofiev Piano Concerto No. 3 with Sebastian Lang-Lessing and the San Antonio Symphony on January 28 & 29, 2011.
@vova47 That's exactly right - I even wrote to her (she is very friendly) - and you wouldn't believe it, she answered nearly what you wrote^^. It makes no sense writing to russian organizations. They - at the moment - simply ignore her.
By the way, I saw her life September 18 in Hamburg, with Tanja Becker-Bender. It was magnificent!! Feinberg, Prokoffiev and more - outstanding.
@Klemperer I can and do believe it - it's all politics these days and you have to promote and push yourself just like it is everywhere else. And I would guess, Lilya probably spends her time practising and playing rather than promoting herself. And thank god for that!...
Great interview! Now would you believe that this outstanding pianist is so rarely invited to Russia...All of us adore the "russian school" of various musicians long before we were born - but something must have changed if they don't invite the best musicians to play in Russia...
How strange. If I would live in Russia I would write to the orchestras to invite Lilya Zilberstein - a live performance is lightyears ahead of the best youtube videos (with a kind of overcompressed sound, sometimes^^).
