Leona: A Legend Still in the Making (Part 1)

In June 2010, I wrote a column on my blog (http://www.johncoggin.com/blog/) in which I described what I was then observing via the YouTube videos that my fellow Leona fans across the Atlantic were uploading after each performance on the the singer's Labyrinth Tour (UK, May 28 - July 6).

The once painfully shy X-factor winner was blossoming into an entertaining, exuberant live performer with a newfound appreciation for black leather (leathah, if you will) and a stage presence that outta NOWHERE.

Leona Lewis was becoming the global pop icon Leona (No Lewis, please): Whether she was hitting that famous E6 my London friends love to tell me about (Sidenote: I salivate on every word), or grinding into the uptempo tracks that — before the tour commenced — we were almost certain she couldn't tackle.

She can. And the world deserves to see her do it.

This is Video 1 (or, more accurately: 1.5) in a series I've been producing in my (scarce) spare time to help motivate the Facebook/Twitter/YouTube/Other Social Media Masses to stop simply talking about it, and — well — make it happen.

Because you can. In fact, you/we are the only ones who can.

This is all part of a larger project, which you can track at justleona.com or on Twitter @justleona. The footage used was taken from various videos uploaded by other YouTubers (the names of whom I promise to publish just as soon as I can verify the origin of every shot used) of Leona's Labyrinth Tour across the UK.

I note the above because you all deserve proper attribution, of course. But also to highlight my intent to make every facet of this campaign fanmade. So, if you've got pics, vids, stories, etc. you'd like to share, let me know: The Website is a work in progress, but once it's up and running at full speed, there's where I'll be putting it all.
