I wish the MTA wouldn't scrap the R30s since there are so few of them left. It would be cool if they could restore R10s,16s,30s they have left and make them into an IND/BMT "train of many colors" like the IRT nostalgia train.

@Windowsxpfan2103 Do you what i hate? NY throwing these cars into the ocean, really? if the cars are no good, scrap the bodies, at least they gut them and sell everything else but if they are good, put them in a museum or lets say make it kid friendly and make it a playground for kids in central park or make a display in central park.

so whats the deal in NYC..you guys are fortunate enuff to restore the fleet with new trains constantly , cause when they scrap stuff in Philly its ran into the ground and has to be lifted most of the time on flat beds and exited..

The loco is a GE-47 Ton industrial engine made to the specifications of NYCT subway tunnels (notice low-roof cab). The two engines belong to the South Brooklyn Railway, which is a NYC Transit freight-only railroad. These are the same engines as the yellow ones you see throughout the NYC Transit system doing various maintenance jobs, except painted red so they are distinguishable from the rest of the diesel fleet.
