vinsanelybrutal is on the right track. Things like the one handed roll "gravity blast" were around long before people were doing "blast beats". Buddy Rich was actually a damn fast drummer by today's standards. Both metal and jazz are rooted in their own traditions, however when they break free and borrow from the other... that creates interesting music. Either way, DSO will do whatever the fuck it wants with music to create that notorious mindfucked feeling.

@facepalm486.......lol, dude go wipe off the corpse paint you spend hours gazing at while making "grim" faces in the mirror...calling deathspell the " hard-core" of bm is like calling 1989 mayhem sold out. Black metal elitists...what a joke.

If you want to talk bout influences, which am only guessing here, then John zorn would b in it, gorguts, and mayhem.not death core nor gothic hot topic shit as you call it. This is Avant-Garde Black metal!

fucking dope man...i m cleaning my house listening to this shit
one love

with that said however, they're previous albums were good - this last one is just another hot seller at hot topic or wherever first world countries buy goth shit.

Jesus H Mohammed you are a bunch of fucking pansies. If you can't hear the obvious deathcore influence on this piece of garbage, black metal is wasted on you. "Tech death" is just another nice way of saying deathcore without the fucking assclowns and their hairdo's and tattoo's. Portal do the whole "over-the-place-in-your-face-s
emen-blasts" better. And they at least have a fucking sense of humour. -
