I know this is quite different to my usual uploads but I thought it would be cool to upload some different stuff for once... plus Vimeo is driving me crazy. This is a little video I put together for my multimedia class at University. Pollock is one of my favourite painters and I wanted to try to create a 3D version of his paintings as I thought it would be a great way to practice my After Effects skills.
I created 15 drip paintings after studying Jackson's techniques. Then I photographed them (under less than stellar conditions, unfortunately), imported them in PS to make them transparent, then imported everything in After Effects to do the animation. Aside from the animation, there is absolutely no digital painting done here, it is pure photo. All and all I'm quite happy with it. I'm more than happy to hear all useful critique. There is not supposed to be any audio with this.
I took this idea from a video I found elsewhere on Youtube. Check it out: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uG2tV-X5NiQ
Quite a tour de force in the depth and organic quality The organic chaos works so well here.I felt as if I had stepped in one of Jackson's canvas and had become one of the strands of paint. Wonderful concept and amazing computer chops.
