I wouldn't have any trouble eating and enjoying the 'not for a dinner party' cake.
I'm not quite that picky...esp. if I'm a guest at someone's dinner party.
Ooooo, the texture is off, Oooooo, the cake is 'domed', Oooooo the crust is too brown/too light. Throw some icing on it an eat already for goodness sake! If you don't want it then there's more for me!!!! ;D
Where is the finished cake? I thought it was great but would have reduced the number of times your wife said "not for a dinner party". Have only found two total test videos so far- that it?
My major critique of this video is that it took too long to get to the point, namely that using the wrong size pan can negatively affect the cake's appearance. Skip the cake-making part. I agree with the other comments regarding your wife repeatedly saying "Not for a dinner party." It doesn't come off as a valid reason to invest in more cake pans. In fact, it just makes her sound really anal retentive, with a slightly crazy edge...à la Joan Crawford. "No more humped cakes...EVER!!" :-)
That's awesome. I really liked the interaction between you and your wife. The theme seems to be shaping up as kitchen tips which I like, as they don't need a lot of explanation.
i like Soctopus. If only Soctopus somehow could slyly appear in the background at some point. He would gladly eat the 8" cake. Very informative - I know about cake pans now! What do I do now with the shiny ones I have from Grandma? :-(

I don't like a "nice brown crust" on my cakes. Who wants a crunchy cake?

thanks...maybe Soctopus will make a very subtle appearance in the future somewhere....
maybe he will break up a heated argument between good cop/bad cop...?
