  • Many Muslims, Hindus, Jews. Buddhists, etc have said that finding "god" has changed their life. What would make the Christian claim any more valid that the others?

  • MrGoodatheist Im acually responding to your comment because its well thought out and makes an interesting point, first of the atheist says that mind you non of these experiences are valid secound these faiths need to be examined and I would also like to argue that christianity is acually a unike blief even compared to modern religions, not to mention it is in my opinion the most rational, but this video argues that its wrong to assume we are dillusional. Plus its to provoke thought :)

  • The criteria you picked for validating subjective experience are not good criteria. Those criteria boil down to an argumentum ad populum logical fallacy. The question you should be asking is whether or not a testable claim is being made and whether or not there is positive evidence in support of that claim. Your tomato example was an excellent one. You can test everything about that claim in order to verify it's legitimacy.

  • I think that there are plenty of educated individuals who put God and the flying spaghetti monster, Santa Claus, the Easter Bunny and even the invisible bogeyman, in the same category.

  • Great video.

  • In answer to your title: I think so.

  • It depends on how you view politics. Politics of that day were very different from what they are today. There were no well founded political parties, more ideas than "parties". Jefferson was mostly a pretty liberal guy but also believed in less Governmental control. Less government is a hallmark of the Republican party. So as with the issue of slavery, Jefferson seemed to be on 2 sides. However, believing in the moral teachings of Jesus was not extreme. W Bush believed he talked to god directly.

  • but today would probably considered a right winged extremist

  • Well, I am sure that we would agree and disagree some of Jefferson. He was a brilliant mind who wrote the Declaration of Independence. However, Jefferson was a Deist, not a Christian. He didn't believe in the Divinity of Jesus but he did accept many of Jesus moral teachings which were basically Judaism.

  • I admire things about Thomas Jefferson perhaps diffrently from you idk lol thanks

  • You are 100% correct and it is great to see someone in our modern age who actually knows the truth about one of my great heroes, Thomas Jefferson!
