We're the new hippy generation, instead of the bs of free love we have 'free data', while Facebook makes it's fortune because people haven't understood how to value the currency of the data. Zuckerberg saying "Privacy is a discourse of the past" - what a con job. Facebook liberated your privacy from you in order to own your data. Now we buy the propaganda to save face and get the next Facebook fix. Bring me Diaspora - diaspora.com - What's with this network? Is it going to fly or not?

Zuckerberg is just naive and idealistic. This lady actually knows what she's talking about.

The point here that is ignored is the element of 'free' service. In order to have 'free' admission to facebook, people are paying with their privacy. They know that the thing is being paid with by advertisements. Therefore they are not as innocent as Dr. Turkle suggests here. The 'free' ideology as described by Chris Anderson will need a shocking event (As in Naomi Klein) before it can be reversed - and this will happen - but this event will cause a lot of pain.
