Bangladeshi violinist Dr. Nusrat Mumtaz Ruposhi ( http://www.violinistruposhi.com/ ) singing just another modern pop bangla/bengali song with Violin as lead musical instrument on Bangla Vision chanel. Dr. Mumtaz helping the promotion of academic learning of Violin tremendously in Bangladesh through her research and creation of fusion themes.

Dr. Mumtaz is the daughter of once famous Dancer/Dance Director Late Mrs. Alpana Mumtaz, sister of Dance Director Dr. Shoma Mumtaz, and the niece of a Bangladesh house-hold name actress Late Mrs. Rowshan Jamil. Dr. N Mumtaz grew up in a musical family starting performing on BTV at the age of 3. Growing up she has seen many of today's and past famous artists/ustads rehearsing in her family living room. Her mother also encouraged her into acquiring formal education in music stating that the next generation should be significantly more advanced in music. That had inspired her much to completely and successfully be involved in Bangladesh music industry.

Under the Indian government scholarship program, and the guidance of Professor DK. Bhonsle, Ruposhi had completed her Ph.D thesis in the faculty of performing arts at the Maharaja Sayaji Rao University, India. Her Ph.D research topic was "Forms and Styles of North Indian Classical Music in Bangladesh".

Dr. Mumtaz's interests and talents in music extend far beyond not placing herself only as a classical violinist but also to direct and experiment with music. Her compositions range from pure classical compositions to 'fusion' music where she liberally applies and blends touches of modern, folk and/or western music styles on her strong classical base music. On one hand, Ruposhi fervently promotes classical music in violin in Bangladesh, on the other hand, she works to popularize music with creativity and fusion, without losing the classical chord in her music. Since 2004, Ruposhi has been presenting her fusion music compositions on many occasions on stage and television.

  • Sonnetg Dude!

How come you contradict your own self? 6 days ago you left a word in another chanel "Nice" and now you are calling that same person a "B****" Were you high when you made the other post or are you high now? Either way, lay that dope down dude! It's not good for you :(

  • Ok BO, I have edited the biog a bit to make you happy :-)

  • I don't mean any offence but these are simply facts. Violin has been a part of "Indian" music for 100s of years but in Bangladesh, no-one before Dr. Mumtaz took part in formal education in Violin. Most experts in Bangladesh are self-proclaimed. The organization I work for which promotes talents from all over the world had learned it for fact that some known Violinists in Bangladesh did not even know how to read universal music notations therefore, we wrote the intro the way we did. Thanks.
