Diane Schroer on Transgender Discrimination

Starting a new life and searching for a new career isn't easy, but Diane Schroer, a highly-decorated veteran, is no stranger to a challenge. A former Airborne Ranger qualified Special Forces officer, Schroer began taking steps to transition from male to female shortly after retiring as a Colonel after 25 years of distinguished service in the Army. When she interviewed for a job as a terrorism research analyst at the Library of Congress, she thought she'd found the perfect fit. Schroer accepted the position, but when she told her future supervisor that she was in the process of gender transition, they rescinded the job offer. The ACLU is now representing her in a Title VII sex discrimination lawsuit against the Library of Congress. This is Diane's story...

lol uh..u don't like being treated as a 2nd class citizen as a woman, but then u go n say such hurtful things about a transwoman, and in effect, make her out to be a second-class citizen.

it's like how men will never understand male privilege, simply bc we're not women. so u have privilege of being a cis-woman (mentally and physically female). the point is, whether or not we understand them (women,trans ppl, etc.), we should all sympathize with those who are unjustly discriminated against...

Sexual orientation and gender identity are two entirely separate things. Many transgender women are attracted to other women both before and after transitioning to female, so they couldn't possibly be considered gay men if they're sexually attracted to other women.

Oh god I just saw this and it may not outwardly say any hate but you imply it. Okay so she went through a process to become a woman. She didn't feel comfortable as a man and she went through her transition to become a woman and now she is a woman. She is not a man anymore. Stop being ignorant and grow the fuck up.

Diane Schroer won here case, which incidently has had VERY broad legal ramifications to ending gender discrimination the workplace. I applaud her service and wish her success in the future.
