This time the fragments are taken from the German promotional movie "Wir Shalten Um Auf Hollywood". This clip serves as a fine example of recycling. Two of these three fragments are almost the same as in my previuous post. The main difference is the first fragment which is unique for this movie. It's taken from the vaudeville section of The March Of Time, showing the 80 year old vaudeville legend Barney Fagan doing one of his routines. The other big difference is the giant violin number which seems to be complete here. Unfortunately all the other March Of time numbers said to be included in this movie are missing from the print I have access to.
The quality of this clip is not very good but the content is :)

  • I believe these numbers were eventually used in Broadway to Hollywood ('33)

  • The Barney Fagan portion is an extraordinary glimpse back in time, really to the middle of the1800's. Amazing.

    Many thanks.

  • Entschultigung, das Schneeballett

  • I wonder if the violin idea here inspired Busby Berkeley to create the large illuminated violin in the Shadow Waltz sequence of Golddiggers of 1933?

Nice ice ballet, with the girls. And how did they get the horses to do that?

Is there a better quality print available somewhere? Anyway, thanks for posting! Sehr gut!

  • Very nice.
