yeah, he did the double bass way back before anyone did, Also James and Mustaine liked to alternate pick most of their riffs and that's probably why the idea of going just as fast on the bass drum was invented.

@chestus12 agreed but some parts like in one some people made videos strictly for that double bass riff and it wasnt that new and im like why anyone could do it except for people who didnt do double bass of course but yeah he did make double bass quite popular and was pretty good in the 80's for someone in the 80's lol not sure if that made sense or not lol anyway i get youre point

@DDDRUUMMINIT Yes but back in the 80's when Lars started playing double bass, the concept was fairly new, at least at the speeds that he played it at. He's not the best drummer, but remember when he first started out, there were no drummers that did that before him, he was essentially starting a trend, obviously not single handedly, but still he was among the first.

@losferword Benante may well be the best pure thrash drummer around. Only guy I can see challenging him is Paul Bostaph.
