The correct way to describe her is that she is a Filipino of French, Spanish, and Austronesian - Cebuano descent. But really, Cebuano is Filipino, because Cebu is in the Philippines.
Your friend had you misinformed. Btw, "Malay" is a collective term given by Western Europeans to the peoples of their colonies in SEAsia. It is a misconception that Filipinos are "Malay" or that they came from Malaysians. SEAsia was populated through people moving from the North to the Philippines, and southward.

father is french...mother is a mestiza cebuana, she's mixed, mestiza as well. married to a foreigner. most of her life was spent abroad. it's in her genes. let's stop bickering where she came from. what she is accomplishing right now is good news!
there is josie natori who is obviously proud of her filipino heritage. she is an icon and definitely much accomplished!
