@bloomcountyUSA Probably. And I read where classical guitarist John Williams said he was impressed with Randy's playing, and that had he lived, Randy would have been successful in making the transition from Rock / Pop back to classical.

@rayjr62 Yeah I know, his brother has said the same thing, but as I understand it in every town that they played in (while he was touring with Ozzy) he'd locate a guitar teacher and take a lesson, despite the fact that often times he'd be the one teaching the guitar teacher. Have a feeling that if he'd enrolled at UCLA they'd wind up hiring him, within a very short period of time. He was seriously getting into Baroque composers, Vivaldi and Pachelbel according to his brother Kelle Rhoads.

@bloomcountyUSA Maybe so, but as Ozzy tells it, after their 1982 tour had concluded, Randy was going to leave the band, move back to L.A., enroll in undergraduate classes at UCLA to obtain a degree in Music. Randy had planned on leaving the music business to get his college degree. Sadly, that would never happen.

@rayjr62 He could have taught music theory at UCLA, he was classically trained when he was like 6 or 7 years old, his mom was a music teacher and owned a music school. When he was 12 his music teacher told his mom he couldn't teach him anything more, he'd already excelled beyond the teachers skill set. He graduated from high school at 16 (early) and started teaching at his mom's studio after that, there's a lot of musicians around the LA area that took lessons from him. Just sayin'

I spent almost every night listening to this in headphones as I drifted off to sleep my senior year of high school. I recall every little nuance and this is amazing to hear it all by itself. Just as wonderful as I recall. This is my absolute favorite Randy work! Never noticed the tiny fills in chorus after solo (except of course the big high bends).
