*THE LONGEST ROAD TUNNEL IN AUSTRALIA*

*** Driving from the Pacific Motorway, Woolloongabba (Southern Entry Point)
to the Bowen Hills, Lutwyche Road (Northern Exit Point). *** - BRISBANE, QUEENSLAND, AUSTRALIA.

***Currently The longest road tunnel in Australia! ***
- Until Airport Link is complete that will connect to Clem7.

We were some of the first cars to pass though the tunnel, 2 hours after it's official opening @ 10pm! (15/03/10)... just after 12am we drove though the tunnel.

Finally it's here! The Clem7 Road Tunnel!

Cutting out 24 sets of traffic lights with a solid 80km/h speed limit, the 6.8km Clem7 (named after the longest serving Brisbane Lord Mayor, Clem Jones) took just over 3 years in the making and 10 years of planning!

The tunnel connects Brisbane's North side to the South side down 60 meters beneath the Brisbane River ! ! !

Absolutely amazing piece of engineering!

Filmed By Anthony Keim.

Recorded on Apple iPhone 3GS, using TomTom Car Kit.

  • What a was of money I would never use it , Fucking Queensland and their fucking toll roads , why are we paying to drive on the road we pay enough as it is $5.00 one way you have to be kidding right, take a stand everyone and dont use it and they will continue to bring the prices down until its free for ever.

    You have this Tunnel

    The Logan Motorway 3 times

The Gateway Bridge and now they have built another one next to it

Take a look at Western Australia there is no toll roads in the entire State

  • @BrianDewy Tolls dropped to $2 one way from July 1st. But Yes I agree we do need to be more like WA in QLD like that. Now water price hikes, it gets better by the year!

  • I'm gonna bust the locations of those fixed speed cameras in that tunnel with a radar detector although i think it is a myth that they have speed cameras in that tunnel.

  • @agentdark64 It's no Myth, I'v seen one go off from some fool doing at least 110 in a WRX. I reckon there really is 4, and that would be awesome if your radar detector could find them :).

  • the exits on the north side @5.48 i think is not made/marked properly, the road should have a bit longer before the split/exit,,what if you are on the right and then see the sign board on the left, unless it had been marked inside the tunnel. i have felt it a bit confusing and cant get a map of it,,,so good thing that i checked here, you have nice clean shot as well

  • @terryyouth Glad my video was helpful for you! I totally agree with you!

I hope this video can help others plan their Clem7 route.

  • i really want to go into the clem 7 tunnel and i live in brisbane. wish there wasn't a toll :(

  • @sydneyfcanddascc Yes, I think Sydney has quite higher tolls for quite narrower motorways. (It's only the biggest Metro area in Oz, so of COURSE it makes sense that the roads in Queensland and Victoria are substantially larger and one can enter the CBD on limited access facilities from ALL directions.)

  • @BrianDewy yeh im suprised the western doesnt link with the gateway or the gympie arterial at least, with maybe a tunnel or viaduct of some sort, we have a major problem here in sydney too, we are missing a link between the F3(M1) and the M2, and the current route that links the two is a nightmare coz of the traffic, and the M4 to the city aswell, but the M4 has become toll free recently

the M7 here, for a full 40kms, would set you back 5.80 i think

  • @sydneyfcanddascc It need 4 lanes either way and to be free. lol did you see the Go Between Bridge , another one $3.80 and its 300 meters long WTF how pathetic is that, surely someone needs to realise that toll roads are not the answer to fixing the congestion around the State, Wheres the ring road around the City

  • @BrianDewy im surprised it aint 3 lanes each way

  • They've found the speed cameras inside the tunnel are catching less people than those placed elsewhere but thats hardly surprising considering the fumes are slowing drivers down to point where theyre near passing out.

  • @agentdark64 ,,,that could be true about the dummy cameras ..maybe be they will exchange it for real quietly once they become sure that most motorists are going over limit due to earlier cameras being dummy or not detecting and hence rake in more money

  • i was thru this last week and that split in road @ 1.18 is really quick ,,inspite of looking at signs i had to jump accross like in the video as i suddenly remembered seeing this video..like i said for a car travelling at 60 the split is too short to make a exit,,,and even after going this way it did not look like as if was an entry into a tunnel..anyway it was really long and you can see the dip in tunnel as well going down.thanks
