This brings back the masses I attended as a child in the 70s. I love "Hear O Lord" because it reminds me of the sacred. Yes, it should be more popular--I think Catholic hymns need some good PR. People accept too easily what is packaged for them by the music industry.

It means "Come by me" but don't ask me which language. The first time I heard "Hear o Lord" was some twenty years ago. It was a recorded pice made on one of the Caribian Islands.

Wow! Was this brilliant or what? You have a terrific voice Father! It reminds me of Iz Kamakawiwo'ole's version of "What a Wonderful World/Over the Rainbow". Is this on CD anywhere? I sang "Hear Oh Lord" for my First Communion waaay back in 2nd grade and have NEVER forgotten it! Thank you!

Father, I love how you combined these two songs. I miss these songs from the 70's. Father, you inspire me!
How odd, many have been looking for this hymn, as have I for some time. Surprised it is not more popular as it is so beautiful. First heard it at a Folk Mass in 1967 when we moved to CA from MA. I was very moved and still am. Praise God in all things.

Dear Mike,
Well, the words are more intimate and vulnerable. Unfortunately, people think of the English definition of "Celebrate" when they think of worship. They need to learn the liturgical meaning which means to "gather in memory." God bless, Fr.

Cont... Our Judaic-Christian heritage uses the word memory in terms of "making a reality present," rather than viewing the past. We make present our challenges as well as our joys before the Lord.
