Chapter 12
Joe shifted Olivia from next to him to in front of him, so he was holding her by the waist with both hands. Olivia rest her hands on Joe's, laying her head on his chest.
Olivia's heart was pounding, and she wished Joe hadn't noticed. Olivia noticed she could hear Joe's heart beating softly, and it wasn't racing like hers -- he was so calm.
Joe softly grunted in Olivia's ear, and gently swung her from side to side.
She tried her best not to jump, and laughed quietly.
"...ou...via..." Joe murmured.
"What?" Olivia giggled.
"I love you, Olivia" Joe said, in such a gentle voice only Olivia could hear in the whole room.
Olivia's heart raced even faster.
How was she supposed to respond to this?
Of course, she would tell him she loved him too, but what if her voice was shaky? That would be embarrassing. But if she didn't answer, that would hurt Joe -- big time.
"I love you too," Olivia said softly, and to her relief, she was whispering too softly to even tell her voice was shaking.
Joe turned Olivia to face him.
Olivia saw the sweetest smile waiting for her, and smiled back.
Joe leaned over as she closed her eyes, and he kissed her. This time, Olivia had the guts not to turn away.
To her surprise, she soon found herself wrapping her arms around Joe's neck, kissing him back. It was the first time she'd ever kissed a boy, and it felt right.
Joe came up for a little air, and started kissing her again, squeezing her even tighter.
Maddy was watching them.
She slightly frowned, trying not to let Nick notice. It was as if she had no chance any more, but she didn't want to give up Joe. She HAD to make him hers.
Nick held her in front of him so she didn't face him, and wrapped his arms around her shoulders. He hung his head on Maddy's shoulders, slightly swaying her side to side.
Maddy could smell the scent of shampoo from his beautiful curly locks, and leaned her head against his. She could also feel his tender breath on her neck.
She felt like she could just doze off -- that's how comforting he was.
"Maddy..." He whispered in her ear, sounding like he was about to nod off as well.
Maddy held on his arms, struggling to keep her eyes open to focus on Olivia and Joe.
Olivia and Joe were kissing, which made Maddy envy big time.
She noticed that Gabby and Frankie were no longer there, but guessed they got sick of all the love in the air and went to Gabby's room.
Then she looked over to Briana and Kevin, wondering how they were doing.
Briana was leaning on Kevin's shoulder, holding his hand. Now she envied them too.
Joe and I are meant to be, Maddy thought. Olivia would be perfect with Nick.
She was starting to doze off to her daydreaming with Joe, but was snapped back to reality when she heard Nick grunt softly.
"Nick?"
Nick grunted even more softly instead of answering.
Maddy smiled and kissed his soft curly hair.
"Kevin," Briana said, taking a deep breath "I have a question"
Kevin nodded silently.
"This might make things a little awkward," Briana continued, staring at the carpet.
"Okay," Kevin said "Bring it on"
"Well, it's been bothering me for practically 24hours now, but," Briana took another deep breath. Maybe she shouldn't ask this? But she couldn't turn back now "Why did you turn away yesterday?"
Briana kept her eyes glued to the carpet. She could hear Kevin open his mouth to say something, but she couldn't hear words coming out of it.
"Uhm, then I need to talk to you in private" He finally said.
"Okay," Briana agreed "Let's go to Maddy's room"
Briana led Kevin up the stairs, still holding his hand.
Once they got there, they sat on Maddy's bed.
"To answer your question," Kevin said, looking into Briana's eyes "I just had a major break-up with my now to be ex-girlfriend, and I couldn't get over it"
Briana felt terrible.
"Oh I'm so sorry..."
"Don't be," Kevin smiled "I'm fine with it"
"And um..." Briana bit her lower lip "Why did you need to speak in private?"
"I just wanted some time alone with you,"
He looked straight into Briana's eyes, and smiled.
Briana felt like she never wanted to turn her head away.
She closed her eyes, and leaned in to kiss him.
"I'm sorry," Kevin said, gently rubbing Briana's face with his hand "But I'm not ready to kiss yet,"
Briana didn't answer, and just opened her eyes finding herself gazing into Kevin's eyes.
She bit her lower lip, and tried her best to look sad so he'd change his mind and kiss her.
"Sorry," He said again, kissing her on the head.
Then he gently hugged her.
Maybe she should give him a little more time, then he'd see that Briana was the girl for him.
Or maybe it was the age. She hoped not.
She could smell the sweet scent of Kevin's leather jacket hugging him, never wanting to let him go.
Little did they know what was going outside in the hallway.
