Statement without commitment.
Gas companies need a good laugh too.

  • Hi Don,

I agree that short lived boycotts of a day or two don't work. Making a more permanent change, like opting for public transportation, as you suggest, is a more effective way of making a difference.

This reminds me of the calls to boycott BP after the spill last year. BP wasn't affected, but the owners of the gas stations felt the pinch. The problem is that they had nothing to do with the spill. Calls for boycotts are often emotionally driven and have very little staying power. Ray

  • Cheapest here is in New Jersey. Wednesday @$3.55/gallon, Monday $3.49. Was just aboot to compare until I realized you're speaking in Canadian dollars as well, so some smarter person needs to help me oot with that conversion.

Thing is as the Good Witch said, we've always had the power as consumers, but since the mid-'90s most have been choosing gas guzzlers over fuel efficiency and not demanding efficient cars from automakers. I've been buying cars which get 40mpgs and up to 50s since then.

  • we are a $1.23 a liter, you got a good deal. I am going to start riding my bike.
