Beautiful song, beautiful lady! I love this song. Thanks for the post.

How did we go from this lovely, talented woman to a half-naked bimbo in stilettos falling off a piano?
-
@MultiHotNERD I should've written my comment a little more clearly. I know the Supremes were not part of the British invasion - how could they be? - They were from Detroit, Michigan! What I was trying to say was that many of those music acts that made it big in the 1960s - whether American or British - were in their late teens and early 20s. Petula Clark was 32 when "Downtown" hit #1 in the US in 1964. But she was famous in the UK long before then. Ciao.

@derf66 the implication that the Supremes were part of the British invasion is incorrect. That's analogous tosaying Dean Martin was already an established singer in the 60's. You are equating apples and oranges

"Softer than a sigh..." That's good writing. And just a lovely lady singing it.

Petula is so wonderful! Great talent.........'My love', what a wonderful song. She really belts this one outta the park.

ya the guy just walks past - funny - but wow what a voice - what a great time - what do we have now...rap-hip hop - what a load of shit - a bunch of semi-illerates making millions with no talent- sounding all the same - wonder what these jerks will be listening to in 20 yrs...God forbid
