From the age of 13 onwards, I used to edit together snippets of my favorite skaters jumps, in high repetition and I used to watch them day in, day out!!! (it drove my family mad!)..

This is a copy of one of them that I made early 1985.. These were some of the skaters that motivated me to go to the rink everyday as I ached to be amongst them, as good as them and beyond..

Its a small collection, but a good one!

It features:
Michele Sartorato, Michele Biserni, Joachem Helme,
Tim McGuire, Claudia Bruppacher,
Tammy Jerue, Tina Kneisley, Leonard Steinberg,
Scott Cohen, Michael Butzke and Rick Monturo..

  • Omg. This brings me back to my pairs skating days! I use to train with Jim pringle and Wayne Melton. I am 47 now and it seems like yesterday I use to be at competitions with John Arishita and Tammy Jerue. The 80s and early 90s were so much fun in skating artistically. I guess it's a fading sport. I switched to ice in the 90s and worked in a lot of shows.

  • Thank you so much for posting these!!!!!! I totally get how these motivated you! It's midnight and I'm ready to grab my skates head to the rink!!!!

  • Jayson, this is great!!! Paolo I watched that '82 Nationals tape of Paul and Tina, Tim McGuire, Rick Monturo and everyone over and over until there was so much static you couldn't see much anymore! Great memories!

  • I believe Claudia Bruppacher at her peak was unbeatable in this time. She won World and European competitions in row.

  • To Michole Star007: It's called the "toe off" of the jump and yes, the toe stop is driven into the floor to launch the jump. Best wishes on your attempts at jumping. My brother teaches competitive roller skaters to jump...He was a former world champion.

  • I am going to try to learn jumps.

when they get ready to set up the jump do they use that leg that they throw backwards to "Pick" off of the ground? or does it not touch the ground ta all ?
