http://www.TheBoaters.TV Episode 46 - First up today, it's the 1,000 Days at Sea Project.

Reid Stowe, a 55-year old professional adventurer, and his 24-year old girlfriend, Soanya Ahmad, are attempting to stay at sea until 2010, communicating with civilization solely via satellite phone.

The couple has been sailing aboard the 70-foot schooner "Anne" through the South Atlantic since April 2007.

Stowe and Ahmad call their mission "Mars Ocean Odyssey," because they think the journey will provide valuable lessons for a manned flight to Mars.

Follow the 1,000 Days at Sea project through its website at http://www.1000days.net where you can read daily blog posts e-mailed in by their satellite phone.

Next up, it's a Flashback to 1958: A private yacht for every family was just on the horizon.

In 1958, Arthur Radebaugh, in his syndicated Sunday comic strip "Closer than we Think," gave readers of the Chicago Tribune a glimpse at the future of yachting with his design of "The Poor Man's Yacht."

The caption predicts that in "the world of tomorrow," the family car might be used as the motive power for boats.

All the yachtsman-of-the-future would need to do is drive his car into the cradle of the new marine creation, allowing the automobile's engine to run the boat.

You can find Arthur Radebaugh's "Poor Man's Yacht" sketch, and read more about "the futures that never were" at the Paleo-Future blog: http://paleo-future.blogspot.com

Finally today: Introducing the AquaDomi - The Houseboat of the Future?

AquaDomi houseboats are a modular system of floating houses that give the owner the possibility of creating his own house on the water, exactly the way he wants it.

The AquaDomi houseboat designs feature contemporary architecture equipped with luxury comforts, geared more towards aesthetic artistic structures on water with a homely feel.

Check-out the different architectural designs at the company's website http://www.Aquadomi.dk

  • Something like This study was done by NSA , Using Shackletons notes from polor exploration . He discovered that by keeping the crew busy he kept them happy. Sleeping all the time brought on depression and fighting .

He made them all work at something daily and devised rec on nicer days.

  • Dear god this girl is atrocious at presenting stories. What makes people want to do things they are so terrible at? And why does society reward thin "blondes" (ahem) for being so mediocre? Food for thought IMO.

  • Julesy...It's English Jules here...can't believe I've just found you on youtube!!!! You look just as fab as you did when we lived in Florida.....can't believe I'm now watching all this boat news...I'm a land lover now...well...hmmmm xxxx

  • 1000 days of isolation with a 24 year old girl. Dirty old bastard. He probably needs a seventy foot schooner just to fit all the anal lube on board....

  • I'd love to spend 1000 days at sea with her. We would have alot of fun ;)

  • 1000 days at sea? Terrible! Do they have at least have Internet access through that satellite phone? :)
