2011 has certainly been a breakout year for ASAP Rocky. Having hit the ground running with "Purple Swag" and "Peso", two swagnificent videos that catapulted him into overnight stardom, the Harlem phenom continues to mob on the industry with an increasing online recognition to go along with his embracing street buzz. Named after the god emcee Rakim, it's only fitting that the 23 year-old harlemite dictate his own, unique lane in the game. With purple drinks and lit swishas, Rocky projects a sound that exemplifies a new age of rebel youth in a context that encompasses both the Texas trill lifestyle and an authentic New York swag.

Shortly after inking a lucrative deal with Polo Grounds Music / RCA Records, Rocky dropped the highly anticipated LiveLoveA$AP, and listeners have been seeing purple ever since. Moving with the support and creative inspiration of a closely-knit ASAP brotherhood, one can't help to anticipate great work to come out of the self-proclaimed "pretty muthafucka." Although Rocky has thus far emerged as the clique's standout artist, the ASAP Mob boasts a whole team of dope emcees, and producers like ASAP Ty Beats, proving that their movement is a force to be reckoned with.

In just the short time that the ASAP Rocky has been in the public eye, he has already exhibited a number of ambitions outside the mic booth. Blow! caught up with Rocky in the midst of one of these outside endeavors, as he was co-directing Danny Brown's video for "Blunt After Blunt." While on set, Rocky speaks about his influences, ASAP philosophy, and why he will certainly be a multi-faceted tastemaker in the years to come.

ASAP Rocky is currently gearing up to hit the road with Drake and Kendrick Lamar, as a featured act on the Club Paradise Tour. Be sure to stay on the lookout to see what 2012 has in store for the ASAP Mob.

  • @MegaMikepham if you go look at the backstage video of drake and asap they show the rest of the clip and he did shake Yams hand haha

  • @rivals100 Definitely true. Problem is, they are the ones who should be in the limelight, not the rappers, in my opinion. They do most of the work. Not saying that rappers have it easy, but most of the respect should come to the producers.

  • @MegaMikepham Yeah, I'm sure that really keeps Drake up at night that some random dirtball from Harlem with shit all over his face didn't wana give him dap.

  • Damn yo gangster what up g-money
