How does this handle the steeper seattle hills? Very practical using the drill batteries. Have you considered taking them out of the plastic housing?

It helps on the steeper hills but has its limits. Need lots of pedaling in lowest gears. The motor has to have a minimum rpm to develop much power because it is not geared.

Do you help it along by pedaling also, or do you let the motor do all the work?

Don't mistake an electric bike for a scooter in disguise. I don't help it along. It helps me along. Look at the wheel size on scooters. There are engineering reasons for that called torque and RPM.
