Again at the Open Air Museum in Arnhem. This is what was used to wash the clothes. Families would gain 6 months worth of clothes and linen before handing them over to the washer.

  • So where and what is this place? Is there a web link to this open air museum? 6 months worth of clothes? Somehow I doubt that considering that most people didn't own a lot of clothes until relatively recently. So was this an industrial installation to dye and wash fabrics?

  • @bannol1 No, as it says in the description it was a communal place to wash clothes, not to dye, but to wash clothing and linen for working, farming families. Think about the size of families a few centuries ago and you might get a picture for how much clothes, linens and other things people had.

Googling the museum took about 2 seconds, you might want to try that. ;)

  • I agree with Hindsight... Can't you edit this to make it right side up? I've never seen anything like this. It's pretty interesting.

  • wish you wouldn't have filmed it sidways. That is pretty annoying. Otherwise, cool.

  • I can pound my own laundry in a bucket.

  • Sounds like an elephant falling down a flight of stairs!
