easy way for for first one use that button on top right below "ON" as =log(base 3) 12

@bollywoodmassive his answer of 2.3 was only to 1dp, if he used the full answer that was on his calculator so 3^2.26185... it would be 12.

just another thought, in the first part you got the answer 2.3, but if you do 3^2.3 then you get 12.513... so wouldn't that round up to 13?

for question 2 cant you use the log rule 'log 3 + log 5' becomes 'log (3*5)' = 'log 15' ??

I don't know if you're aware but, for OCR atleast, they ask for most rounding to be done to 3SF, you usually do 1DP. Don't know if any marks are awarded for it but it could potentially be a loss of marks for someone.
