Ever wondered what a Super Nintendo Universal Adapter looks like or how to use one? Well, this video should answer all of your questions! Need any help, just leave a comment =)

Just one note though - not all universal adapters can play every game. Nintendo got crafty with some of their later releases (like Super Metroid and Super Mario RPG). Generally, I find that if one of my adapters can't play a game, the other one can. Not sure if there's any way to really know, but it is something to be aware of.

  • UPDATE: I'm not sure if you already knew about this or not, but this DOES allow PAL games to play on an NTSC Super NES as well. I ordered one like the second one you showed (without a label on it). However, a regular NTSC SNES game won't fit on the back because of the shape of the outer wall around the cartridge connector. So, I took the circuit board out of one of my NTSC games so I could plug it into the back. IT WORKED! I can now play PAL games on my NTSC console. AWESOME!

  • @MrHossCartwright Oh really? Wow, no I didn't know that. Great work figuring it out =D

  • Why don't they make these for NTSC Super NES consoles? I've searched and searched on ebay and every one of them says that they only allow NTSC and Super Famicom games to play on a PAL Super NES. But NONE OF THEM says they'll allow a PAL game to play on an NTSC Super NES console. I'm SO frustrated by this.

  • @MrHossCartwright Well, the demand was far higher in the PAL regions. People in the PAL regions would hear about games like Chrono Trigger or Final Fantasy IV/VI, and want to play them, so there was a huge demand. As the number of titles which the PAL regions got that the NTSC regions didn't was so low, there really wasn't much demand. However, adapters for the NTSC SNES DID exist. Type 'SNES games that were PAL and not NTSC' into Google, and you should find some YT videos showing converters ;)

  • What about the language. will it show text in english?

  • @Andrewtehninja It doesn't change the game itself - only enables you to play it. A Japanese game (unless it has an English option - and there are only a handful that do (like Super Metroid)) will display in Japanese.Similarly, a US or UK game will display in English. It's just like normal, basically.
