My heart goes out to this young man and his parents and family. My son at times is self injurious, but for much different reasons and nothing to this extent. This behavior, as you have noted, is communication and typically when he is feeling ill. Medical science needs to step up and find an answer that will help this young man and relieve his family.

It's people like you that would never understand or have any compassion for the generousity of sharing and caring families like CDFoakley. This beautiful young man in this clip and the many others has a name and is a child of God and it's a real disappointment that you would even want to post such nasty words when this family is obviously making these videos to help others and to bring awareness to the community..

It is typically used for self injurious behaviors in severely autistic children. Basically everytime the individual harms himself or herself and] electric shock is administered. This treatment is highly effective in stopping the behavior but also is highly controversial.

SIB is like a problem with a car, for example telling a SIB person to stop hitting themself is like having trouble starting your car.
