Jeff's fastest run.
We took the WRX powered 914 project out for its first autocross. The main purpose was to test the engine and tranny, and also to get an idea of what needs to be done with the suspension. We found out that the car understeers far too much, but the mechanicals worked flawlessly. It's got an ej20t out of a 2003 Subaru WRX, running a little less boost than stock for now, until we can get it back on the dyno. The 5 speed subaru tranny was also swapped into the car.
was this at De Anza?

@boobtube356 more reliable, more power, better gas mileage, parts easier to come by for cheaper, cheaper initial build, especially if building it for power. Not many people have done one, etc. XD just my reasons for wanting to build one.

Beautiful car, but why swap? Air cooled is a cleaner install, no? Plenty of options for the VW Type IV as well.

Again - - How difficult is it to Swap out the Factory Engine and Slide in a Subaru ?? And will I also have to Swap the Transmission ??? Thanks !!

My 914 is considerably Tail Happy. Hard to hit 2ndgear when going around a corner - weill, at any sort of speed.
Even though the 914 sports the Porsche Badge - the handling just isnt there. BUt I still love the damn thing.
How much would it cost to stick in a Subaru engine> Doesnt need to be the STI or turbo -- just and entry level Subaru engine??? And how much Work would have to go into something like that?
Lastly--do I have to swap Transmissions? Or will the stock Porsche work ?

I would love to drive this conversion, to me, this is a perfect car for this engine. I have tried a vanagon with a subaru engine.. also very nice!

Understeer! Looks like your front tires leave the ground under power at some points!
Cool car!
