  • What kinda bass and pickup are you using ?

  • @Deftcharge

it was a squier vintage mofified with seymour duncan pickups

  • Great! Very fluid and easy, but precise.

Is that a Squier 70´s Jazz you play there?

  • thanx!!

    It's a squier vintage mofidied

  • NICE job. Saw you sneek your second finger in there a couple times. Jamerson always only used 1. Is that true?

  • yes It's true but I do on my way

  • Who cares if its not hard, its the way james wrote it, how melodic all the fills are! and how melodic the bass part is. its not like when you hear in a primus or chilis song your like WOW THAT FILL WAS CRAZY, its like when you hear the fills in this song your like "wow that was really nice".

  • Jamerson's stuff is such a great source for study. I see far too many guys trying to get into bass playing by trying all sorts of crazy riffs and slap lines and they end up with terrible timing and no imagination or soul at all.

  • yea where's the rest? major scale bro, dont go soft on us.

  • whers the rest of the?

why didnt you play the whole song? it isnt that difficult.

but you played it very well

  • Hello.... Are you using flatwound strings?

  • nice line but there is intonation problems with your bass. Maybe use an electronic tuner before begining.

  • They say that the guys didn't found James the day they've recorded the song, so when they finally found him, it was nearly 3h in the morning and he was so drunk, he couldn't stand on a chair so he played on the floor with a guy holding the chart on top of his head !!!

  • EXCELLENT, except you made the same mistake I made at 0:20. Tha really "quick" pick up note right before it goes back to the E, (2nd fret D string) is not an F# like you played (and me until today actually). Listen very carefully and play along. It is actually a G# plucked quickly on the 1st fret G string. I listened over and over while I played and something did not sound right until I hit that note. If you dispute it YouTube What's Going On bass isolated. Hear The Man himself.

  • yes too sex music
