a small size like that is giving up a hella of a good fight...a bigger one well make u go into the water and use up at least 4 men to pull it to shore
@bboychenc we do alot of c&r here. in fact they are dropping the quotas down even further for sturgeon so most of the sturgeon fishing here is catch and release. sturgeon are ugly fish but they sure oar delicious. i am a bank fisherman. do a youtube search for "Bonneville slingshot sturgeon fishing"
thats good. funny to say this but i have learned to catch and release. im a big fan of largemouth bass and if its not over 14inch then i wouldnt even think bout keeping it. haha.
@bboychenc no they do not raise hatchery sturgeon. that is why the regs are so tight. these fish will be a great sustainable resource if we do our part to use them responsibly, only the large ones make babies thats why the oversize fish get released and there are quotas for keepers on the rivers. once they catch quota is caught they close the fishery to catch and release only.
@bboychenc yeah you probly measure to the tip of the tail. also oregon is alot more strict on sturgeon because we are working to better the sturgeon numbers because it is one of the biggest recreational activities here. sardine is a good size bait for keeper sturgeon. we use anchovies, sand shrimp, herring, shad, nightcrawlers and roll mop herring for bait here
oh i c, u guys keeper size is smaller than us. over here in cali is 46"-66", not sure if its split or tip of tail. i believe it was tip of tail. but yea the only reason why i was using 20pound test was cause we were jus going for striper and we were only using sardine. so i didnt expect to catch a big one.
@IMKINDOFABIGDEAL13 Where I live, not even strippers exist - anymore that is. The golden algae took away most of our fishes here in Texas. Nothing to fish for but crappie and bass now. Boring most of the time. LOL.
