James Welsh, assistant vice president for student health, and members of the Georgetown Emergency Response Medical Service (GERMS) talk about the benefits to the university and the surrounding community that the student-run ambulance service provides. GERMS staff are trained EMTs, and the service is available 24/7 for students, faculty, staff, neighbors, visitors or anyone else in the area who may require its services. Equipped with extensive training and a knowledge of Georgetown's campus and neighborhoods, GERMS combines academic preparation with hands-on practice.
