Aisha Kahlid, Urdu VOA, Washington
The aid given to Pakistan by the US government over the past several decades has been criticized for lack of accountability, transparency, clear direction and "ambiguous consequences" along with for other reasons. Aisha Khalid spoke to Jim Bever, head of AFPAK Task Force, USAID, at the USAID headquarters in DC about these issues. Mr. Bever while agreeing with the notion that the focus of the US aid being on Pakistan's capacity building in the past was not helpful towards winning the hearts and minds of people also mentioned that his agency had already started working towards changing the focus of US' cooperation with Pakistan.
