  • Sorry mate, but you've got it wrong. When a man walks up to a woman in a bar, who is a total stranger, and offers to buy her a drink, or asks a woman out on a date (movie, dinner, etc.), he has a very clear expectation in mind, and that expectation is sex. There is a reason men (straight men) don't often extend such invitations to other men. There is a clear expectation of returned value in play.

  • @kossmikham sorry, but you *you've* got it wrong. what he expects is irrelevant. when she accepts the drink she must do so on the basis that that drink is given *in exchange for* the sex for her to be a prostitute - there must be a 'meeting of the minds'. girls tend not to accept drinks as payment for sex. moreover, prostitution is a unilateral service, i.e. a service given by the prostitute to the customer. when people go home from a bar or whatever, this is not necessarily the case.

  • I like your theory of the expectation-free gift being the differentiator between prostitution and marriage/relationship, but is it really expectation-free? If you bought tickets, dinner etc., and didn't get sex, and that happened over an extended period, you'd have to question whether the effort was worthwhile. Sure having dinner and watching cool films is enjoyable in itself - so its not exactly the same as paying a whore - but there's definitely something analogous going on to my mind.

  • @guiriduro. Thanks for the comment :) I don't think it's analogous 'cause there's no 'meeting of the minds' when the consideration was given. I wasn't saying that it was expectation-free but that the expectation must be mirrored by both parties such that they have an 'understanding'. otherwise, if there's sex, it's incidental. Prostitution is a specific thing and the requirements for it aren't there. Just 'cause somebody's slightly fast & loose, it doesn't mean they're similar to a prostitute :)

  • then everybody would be a prostitute, you are with a person in exchange of love, protection, children, a family life etc... there is no blind or empty thought behind a relationship. we value, happiness and all those things so we have sex always with a gratification or value behing, be physical or emotional.

  • I slept with 15 prostitutes..whats the big deal?

  • you must be gay because most men who want to pay for something will always expect something in return (could be flesh or hapiness)

  • valuable consideration n. a necessary element of a contract, which confers a benefit on the other party. Valuable consideration can include money, work, performance, assets, a promise, or abstaining from an act.

So if a guy promises to take a girl to dinner and then she sleeps with him...does that make her a prostitute?

  • @kossmikham Exactly

  • alcohol is drugs therefore consideration. the tickets serve as paying toward bribing..what he is saying is giving a wife a wedding ring then skipping the honey moon. Sorry prostitution is a unspoken normal that would offend everyone but its true. Like koss said I never pay for a movie ticket for a dude or buy him a drink unless i owe him money.I think hoes that give it to you 4 no reason aren't hoes..just lustful which is still wrong in catholic eyes

  • @arch571332 I totally agree, it's not in the dictionary, but we can call it as prostitution, you're selling your company basically... the guy thinks that his company is may be not enough to give in exchange of her company, so to make it worth to her he starts to pay things. Same when he wants sex, he gives extra-benefits to make it worth to her. because guys never say no to girls, but girls say no to guys, that's why all this shit happens.
