Because I am an atheist.
I believe that god does not exist.
I don't believe in an after life.
I believe this life is all we have and we
should be able to cherish every second of it.
Why waste this beautiful life by hating and fearing
when we should be caring and learning?
But I believe that intolerance should never be tolerated
and that educated answers should always be valued
more than superstition.

Since I believe I have to answer to the God who gave me those laws, I obey them. Some people do not believe in God and still obey them. Some say they believe and yet break them. Your argument against religion is straw. It would make more sense to suggest "no eternal consequences, so why the heck not!"

I'll never kill the abortion doctor because I don't believe that the doctor is sending unsaved souls to hell. I'll never fly a plane in to a building because of a non-existant god and paradise with 72 virgins. So yes, being an atheist has EVERYTHING to do with this.

Being an atheist has nothing to do with whether you would do bad things to people or not. Regimes run by atheists have murdered millions. So "atheist" can be removed from the equasion, leaving "You wouldn't do bad things to people, just because you wouldn't." Good for you.
