@sonyab1974 2 reasons: first, SB felt that the car accident and the resulting trauma offered him, the actor, a really big opportunity to stretch his acting muscles. the way Jason Quatermaine was being written tended to be 2 dimensional. Second, SB felt that writers had made it very clear in that s/l and in subsequent s/ls that the brain damage the character suffered was irreversible. So to have something happen that suddenly and miraculously "healed" the damage was simply not realistic.
