@wwDevichan whoa chill out - i was saying on the most part government-wise, you're obviously in the lesser part, besides - wasn't talking about the circumstances, just the outcome

When was this video made?

Fifteen republics made up the Soviet Union, sort of like how 50 states make up the US. Russia was by far the largest and most powerful. The others were Ukraine, Belarus, Moldova, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Georgia, Azerbiaijan, Armenia, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Kyrgyzstan. They are all independent nations now.

i know you asked the question 5 months ago, but to give you an answer... russia is the modern soviet union. the USSR collapsed in 1991 at the end of the cold war... so... now you know it as russia.

the fall of communism in eastern europe, the end of the cold war, Mikhail Gorbachev (leader of the soviet union at the beginning of the 90s) realizing that the people of the soviet union were increasingly unhappy and impoverished, lots of reasons, so the countries that made up the soviet union went their separate ways, (happily on the most part)
Russia isn't technically the only country under its rule, i think there are others which make up the Russian federation but not many.
