In order to use Nike+ Basketball you need Nike+ Basketball enabled shoes, Sport Pack/Sport Kit and a compatible iPhone/iPod touch. Also, to install periodic software updates for your Nike+ Sport Sensors, you will need access to a laptop or desktop computer with a USB port [For PC, Windows 7, Windows Vista (SP2), or Windows XP (SP3); & an Internet connection (broadband recommended)]. Can anybody explain how that jump meter they're always showing at dunk contests now is supposed to work? Are they measuring how high their shoes are off the ground 'cause if so, who gives a shit, anyone with a half decent vert could jump 30 inches then bend their knees to gain another foot.

Great question. Nike+ Basketball reports vertical based on displacement of your center of mass. Vertical jump measurements are based on the difference in how high you get your center of mass from a normal standing position to the peak of your jump, not how high you can get your feet.
