Its a sick and twisted philosophy of blaming women for rape/sexual assault and putting women on a pedestal to conform to a slut/virgin dichotomy. Should men wear burqas to avoid being murdered? Would it matter if a woman "chose" to wear it? Of course not as much as it wouldnt matter if a woman "chose" to get double DD breasts that hurt their backs, foot binding, breast ironing or FGM. People dont live in vaccums and these women have clearly absorbed their unhealthy patriarchal views from the culture they were reared in. Some Christian women even teach their husbands to hit them because they bbelieve its in the Bible. Is it okay because they think its their choice?

The hijab, burqa, abaya, ect are ALL oppressive. It is literally a uniform that depicts women as the sex class. It is sexually objectifying. The veil is even worse. These outfits are also homophobic as they depict a forced heterosexual assumption on people, ie, male gaze after females. It blames women for rape and cmmmunicates to men that they are not responsible for their own actions and behaviors. It is also ableist as deaf people cannot communicate with a women wearing a veil.

i always find it hard to understand why SOME western ppl think we muslim woman are oppressed...granted in some muslim countries this the case,but it is culture not islam!..some ppl flip out bcz we cover but i dnt see this outrage with half naked woman in car commercials..music videos..ads in news papers..just walking down the street,or trying to enjoy a family night out! to have to see some womans cleavage,butt cheeks..it drives me crazy.& plze b4 sum1 says then go home..
