@mewmaster151 A steel string guitar will work with nylon strings but not not really the other way round as nylon string guitars don't have to be so strongly constructed as steel string guitars.

@phaeton01 It will probably stay in tune for a very long time with only six strings as a twelve string guitar has to be more strongly made. You will find the action is slightly lower with six strings as the stress on the neck will be reduced.

it's JORDAN RUDESS!!!

i have a 12 string that i was thinking of stringing with 6 steels, would the added reinforcement of a 12 string be adequate?
-
mine is strung with the 6 5 and 4 using steel and nylon on the 3 2 and 1 strings
-
cant a steel string be strung with nylon strings or vice versa?
-
you remind me of christian bale. good info. thank you
No they can't be strung vice versa. A steel string guitar has a reinforced neck to handle the tension of steel strings which a nylon string guitar won't be able to handle. Also a steel string guitar is normally not as wide as a nylon string guitar which is needed for nylon strings. Good luck!
