no way man. I'm not really a fan of those metal sticks. They feel funny to me. Anyway, those are Vic Firth Dave Weckl signatures that I'm using. I've used them for years and really like the length/weight.

  • @stephengoold you didn't make that "heel toe" hi-hat thing up, people have been playing "sholder/tip" sticking for years.

  • @joeyjuniorjunior Ha... I think you misunderstood me. Of course I didn't invent the motion. I just mean that the NAME... "heel/toe"... is something that I thought of myself. I never knew what to call it so I got in the habit of calling it that. You called it "shoulder/tip" and that's a way better name. I know the technique is common and I definitely can't take any credit for that.

  • @stephengoold ahh see sorry about that, i get it now, cool but good vid anyway

  • What cymbals are you using?

  • Are you using Easton Ahead sticks in this video? If so what size.

you're right dude... nice catch. on that groove I'm dropping extra snare hits in the syncopation and the elbow movement is necessary to avoid a traffic jam between my arms. however, it's important to understand that the elbow is not the rotational center of the heel/toe movement. although I might be moving it a little like you pointed out, it's not moving very much, and the movement that forms the foundation of the heel/toe technique is still in my wrist.

  • Oh yeah. Risen Is nice.
