I don't doubt zap644's sincerity, and I'm sure that Fred LeBlanc and J.T. Griffith work hard and have earned a devoted following, but I'll take the Dave Laredo Cowboy Mouth over the LeBlanc/Griffith Cowboy Mouth any day of the week.
It's a shame that the Dave Laredo Cowboy Mouth broke up so soon.

WOW! So excellent! I continue to listen to this album, Cowboys and Indians. Shocked that the second song on this video is "My Brown Girl," one of my favorites on this album. Thank you for posting this, and please post any other material from Cowboy Mouth (real).

This cannot be real - that is this cannot be a former incarnation of the NOLA band Cowboy Mouth, I refuse to believe it. The band in this video quite frankly sucks.

I finally found 'Hurricane' from these guys. It was the first song I ever heard on WHFS, an alternative music radio station in Washington, D.C. back in the 80's. I remember it because the synth breaks into 'Peter and the Wolf' at the end. Ahhh, memories!

They're different. That is all. The other band is boring to me but eh, I like original (read "real" country) to the shiny new stuff but eh, that's just me.
-
Isn't them. This band is no relation to the later southern band of the same name.
-
Because this is not the band you're thinking of but one which preceded that Southern band of the same name. Of course, the very original Cowboy Mouth is a play by Sam Sheperd and Patti Smith. :)

Yep. I'm so happy I was able to find it online for download. Listening to it makes me smile all over.

Ooo. All caps. Must be a real connoisseur here.
I can't imagine why these guys aren't together anymore.

I remember this from the mid-80s.
I had this album on vinyl, it's called "Cowboys and Indians" - great album.
