_Oiran were expensive, high class courtesans. ^^ something like a very well educated and beautiful prostitute. In modern days Oiran are illegal, but there's actresses who portray them in festivals and such things so the culture surrounding them won't die.

An Oiran was a high class courtesan. A very very expensive "escort". Being paid for sexual services is now illegal in Japan, so Oirans are roleplayed by certain ladies sometimes to preserve the traditions.

The video is really shaky, like whomever took this didn't have the camera on a tripod or with no auto-balancing for the picture... it jostles around so much.

But other than that it's an amazing example of an oiran walking.
