@michaelwuzthere That is what your proposals would lead to. It would make it people vs. the government. You are too trusting that the government will stay in line. History has proven over and over that is not the case.  BTW, this country is a republic, not a democracy. Democracies are evil because it is mob rule.. Whatever the majority demands the minority is forced to go along with.

You're advocating that the government should not be a democratic organisation of the people in managing the society (i.e., socialism), but rather that the government should be a separate privately controlled entity that the people must fear and fight to keep out of their lives. Government must first be put of, by, and for the people - not businesses and corporations.

@michaelwuzthere No company is going to hand over all their profits freely. Have you ever heard of stockholders? You expect that they would be willing to lose everything and just shrug it off? An order of nationalization would have to be backed by force.. With 300 million guns in private hands in the USA the government wouldn't stand a chance. The vast majority of the military would be on the side of the people. You're not thinking about what would happen down the road. It would be ugly.

And just who would decide for you what is best for you? The government? The government that stops technology, eg. vehicles than run on oxygen, water, or grease. to appease the oil companies? It ain't gonna happen, ever. It's a pipe dream. Our govenment is bought and sold whether it's cash or gifts. You're living in lala land
