A 1960 recording from the four oldest members (Olympia, Leon, Charmaine, James) of R&B group The Sylvers. As the B-Side of "Says You", it features eldest sister Olympia Ann Sylvers on lead vocals.

In the 70s, the group was joined by their younger siblings. As The Sylvers, they recorded the Pop hits "Boogie Fever", "Hot Line", and "High School Dance". As their lineup changed throughout the years, only James Sylvers (a.k.a. Jonathan) has been a member of each incarnation of the group.

In the early 80s, eldest brother Leon Sylvers III became a successful R&B producer for groups such as Shalamar, The Whispers, and Lakeside, among others. He also played bass guitar in the R&B group known as Dynasty.

Charmaine Sylvers is a co-writer of Shalamar's "A Night To Remember", a song that propelled that group's success in the United Kingdom.

  • thanks for posting this, i can't image where you could've found such an obscure thing?! :)

  • @franklinfuentes I found it on an online store known as "iOffer", two days after the Sylvers episode of Unsung. They're similar to eBay, but the buyer protection is a bit sketchy, which I learned after I made the purchase. Thankfully, I didn't get ripped off.

It was on a 45rpm vinyl record, surprisingly in very good condition.

  • I hope someone will post Foster Sylvers performance on soul train along with their performance of High School dance, and this clip, which aired on the recent Unung bio.

  • Adorable! The Little Angels aka Sylvers made appearances in the two biggest black magazines of the day...Jet and Ebony starting as early as 1959.
